It’s no secret that I’m a sucker for exercise, whether it be gym, circuit, running, whatever… I love it! Having spent many of my former years teaching, it’s as natural a daily activity as eating and sleeping – but to my horror, not so long ago an achilles injury literally stopped me in my tracks

For any other sufferers of the afore-mentioned injury, you will know that even with physio, ultrasound (and copious core exercise!), recovery is still a long frustrating process and impatience led me to discover yoga.

Wow, what a humbling shock my first session was! I have always had this delusional belief that yoga was a slow, relaxing, peaceful pursuit and yes, if time was of
no consequence, it would be a rather nice thing to do.

After experiencing a full-on, one-to-one session with my highly accomplished teacher and friend, Louise, I realised that yoga is distinctly not for the fainthearted. With a little nudge, twist or push from her, I was enduring more sickening pain than any marathon has ever caused!

So why do it? Just get started… and then you’ll understand for yourself.

The pain and inflexibility first experienced is the cumulative effect of stress and poor posture. Once you get past this and release your energy you will feel absolutely wonderful and be totally hooked.

As B.K.S.Iyengar wrote, “Yoga teaches us to cure what need not be endured and endure what cannot be cured.” The increased space and freedom in your body significantly enhances performance in other sports and in the words of Bob Harper, “Yoga is the fountain of youth. You’re only as young as your spine is flexible.”

By adopting a more holistic approach to your health, it really is possible for your body to feel younger as the years go by. Forget age boundaries – they only act as psychological barriers, giving you the excuse to cheat yourself out of amazing health and vitality right through to your nineties.

It is my passion for holistic well-being that made me choose Elemis Spa Therapy as the perfect range for Loved.
