Once again, withlittle warning, it would seem that summer is upon us. The erratic weather conditions that we now experience, offer us no clue as to what’s coming and then the hot weather arrives like an unexpected visitor, taking us all utterly by surprise!

However, after a flurry of fake tan, a whirlwind of waxing and most probably, last minute, panicky pedicures, we are just about there. Whether it be to sip Crystal Rose on a terrace, bask in a beer garden, potter and prune at home, or yell “fore” down a fairway, we are all desperate to embrace what could be our only tiny taste of hot weather for the year.

However, whilst enjoying our wonderfully clement weather, please don’t lose sight of the effects of sun exposure. In just half an hour – untold damage can be done to our delicate skin and when that sun-kissed golden glow begins to fade, the premature ageing, skin thickening, uneven pigmentation, age spots and diffuse redness begin to rear their ugly heads. What a sobering thought!

SAVE YOUR SKINS! – Invest in a professionally applied false tan, St Tropez and Fake Bake continue to rate the most highly in my opinion, and then purchase one of the new gradual tans – you are much less likely to have any major mishaps with this technique. The new one by Fake Bake is beautiful and what’s more, the latest technology means no smell – about time! St Tropez’s new intensifier is great to give an instant boost to a tired tan and they are now boasting anti-oxidants to protect and hydrate the skin.

Prior to the tan, if you hanker after that smooth even golden glow but look at yourself and see freckles, age spots and redness – don’t despair. With a few sessions of skin rejuvenation, the clock can be turned back and a fantastic youthful base achieved. After our exposure in the Daily Mail due to Anna Friel’s endorsement, Skin Rejuvenation is definitely a firm favourite in the salon. We have the very latest generation IPL machine by Ellipse, the known market leader, and I have to say the results are phenomenal – especially when combined with treatments such as microdermabrasion, as we did for Marilyn, seen on Channel 4’s ‘10 Years Younger’.

Another of my clients Laura Howard (married to Tim Howard of Everton) used to lifeguard in Memphis USA, and although breathtakingly beautiful, she thought she was stuck with uneven pigmentation due to the effects of the sun. After three sessions due to 100 per cent increase in collagen production, the skin is baby soft again, totally even in colour and back to its pre-sunshine state.

Laura was so thrilled that she brought her mother over from the States to visit and after one session – age spots, diffuse redness and the scattering of thread veins were gone. Laura’s and many others happy client’s testimonials can be viewed on the Loved website.

Skin rejuvenation using light based procedures really is the future in skin care. It is totally safe and requires no pain or injections, yet can reach the basal layer of the skin, thereby increasing activity and metabolism in the cells that truly have an impact on the structure of the skin.

Karin Herzog’s oxygen creams are fantastic for holidays, they pump water, oxygen and vitamins A&E back into the skin as no other creams can. So after a flight or day in the sun, they are perfect. Herzog creams are actually used widely in Swiss hospitals for burns victims as the raw ingredients have such a dramatic effect on skin healing and rejuvenation.

The bottom line is: wherever you are whatever you are doing, enjoy the summer, live life to the fullest, but do protect that most precious and amazing organ – your skin.

Love,
Helen
